Wedding Shoes!

Remember when I bought these shoes for our 3 day Indian wedding? Well they held up wonderfully. That Friday night I wore them from 7:00pm to 12:00am- 5 hours with no issues. Saturday I wore them from 1:00pm to 1:00am. A full 12 hours. Okay, I probably took them off around 12:30, but they went 11.5 hours strong for me.

So when it came down to actually selecting a wedding shoe- well, these were in the front. Luckily for me they come in an ivory and a blue. If you recall, I had written previously that I wanted a shoe with color. So without further ado, I present to you my wedding shoe. (did I mention they were $32 with shipping?)

Please ignore the old pedicure...and the shoes in person are more navy than shown here.

Also please ignore the cankles*, it has been humid in the desert lately. Do notice the perfect 2 inch heal. Perfect for dancing the night away, kissing my man who is 8 inches taller than me and giving the booty a bit of a lift!

cankles: A phenomenon that occurs in humid weather or to pregnant woman in which the ankle and the calf join together. Cankle.

Shopping for someone else's wedding

We have a wedding to go to in 12 days. In Florida! This wedding kind of yanked us out of our wedding planning focus and made us realize other people get married too. Since we'll be in Florida for a few days and have 3 wedding activities ( 2 of them formal) to go to and we were directed not to wear black (damn it) so I had to go shopping.

First off we will have 2 days on the beach (maybe more) so I needed a new suit that wouldn't give me awful tan lines. I found this cute suit yesterday at Target. I wasn't even looking for a new suit. The tie is removable and the suit stays up even while jumping (yup I jumped around the house last night like an idiot. Fi sat on the couch and laughed and hoped to catch a glimpse of "the girls"). Alas, this suit stays up!!!
Second...Shoes. So I can't wear black (religious and cultural guidelines) so I have substituted Brown for Black. I have two dresses for 2 of the events that are brown, so I was hoping for one shoe. Luckily DSW came to my rescue. I found this lovely shoe for $35. It also comes in blue, so I'll see how I do wearing it all night for two nights in a row, if it holds up, I may have found my wedding shoe! :)
Finally, I broke down and bought this dress from Dillard's. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend ($148), but the dress I am wearing to the rehearsal dinner was only $22 (sorry no pics on line, I'll post some later) so $168 for 2 dresses, not too shabby. I'll actually do my hair and I won't wear that awful heart necklace, and I think it'll be perfect. Its very flattering and comfy and since the festivities begin at noon and run all day and evening long, comfort was key.
Tonight, we go buy Fi an new suit for this wedding. 1 suit, 3 ties, I think he'll look great!

Colors Colors Colors

So a year after the wedding planning began I finally decided on colors. Thing is, the final decision isn't too far off from the first draft of colors. But I did a quick new inspiration board to reflect the new colors: Kelly Green and Black.

Inspiration: Kelly Green BM dress (one of five for their choosing), my beautiful ring set, a J Crew suit in black, Black and Green tie from Dillards.com.

Row two: pretty white bouquet, a green shoe (for me, where else? J Crew), Green & black damask invite from Wedding paper Divas.

Row three: The reception site set up for dinner, The front of the Z (both from Zmansion.com) and a pretty paper flower.

I'm pretty pleased with how things are coming together! I have contacted all the bridesmaids and given them the green light (pun intended) to get their pretty dresses. When the semester is over Fi and I will go out suit shopping again, although he did say he'd like to try on a tux (I've seen him in a tux..very cute!) as well! When Fi decides what he wants he to wear, we can contact the groomsman. We are on a roll!

Shoe Update!

Well piperlime has great customer service, so I am not dismayed, but these were not the shoes for me. The picture showed more of a cream , ivory color, and the shoes that showed up were gold. And I mean gold lamme Gloria Gayner shoes. They were of great quality, and they were actually too big (and too small for my wide toes) but not the shoes for me. Luckily for me, piperlime has a great postage free return/exchange policy, so I'll send them on their way back on Monday (although I have 2 months from purchase date to do so, Awesome!!!). I will need to spend some time searching on their site. This time I'll try a colorful shoe!

The First One

I bought wedding shoes today. I never realized how much goes into choosing wedding shoes and although I am pleased with my choice, something tells me, these will be the first pair of wedding shoes I purchase.
I considered height of heal. FI(fiance) is 6 or 7 inches taller than me, so I need a bit of height but not too much that I'll be aching to remove the shoes before I even get down the aisle. These are 3 inches, which is just about right for me.
Open toe: I'm getting married in Tucson, 'nuff said.
Color: I actually don't care too much and frankly, I was looking for something funky, a purple, blue or yellow. As I prefaced, I'm sure these won't be the last shoes I purchase under the guise of "wedding shoes". This color *should* match the dress well enough.
hmm, just writing all this out has me second guessing. :)
